Matilda Parente

Matilda Parente, MD, Certified Specialist of Wine: Matilda has taught wine for more than a decade, as wine director and wine educator at a cooking school, at corporate and tasting events, and as a featured speaker at national meetings of wine experts. She delights audiences coast to coast with her singular approach to wine appreciation, welcoming all levels of learners. The Society of Wine Educators member writes on wine and is a wine judge and member of the Renaud Society, an international society of medical and wine professionals. As a member of the International Scientific Forum on Alcohol Research, she contributes expert commentary and analysis on wine and health topics. Dr. Parente is a graduate of Duke University and the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. For her classes on gems and birthstones, she draws upon her Gemological Institute of America training as a Graduate Gemologist and fine jewelry expertise. She has been a long-standing contributor to Gems and Gemology, the academic journal of GIA.
