Philip Pryde, PhD

Philip Pryde, PhD, is a Professor Emeritus at San Diego State University, where he taught courses in environmental policy for 32 years. His specialties were water resources, energy resources, land use planning, and environmental impact analysis. In the community, he has served as Chair of the San Diego County Planning Commission, and was on the Boards of Directors of the San Diego County Water Authority and the San Dieguito Joint Powers Authority. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the San Diego River Park Foundation, and the Anza-Borrego Foundation. He has authored six books and over a hundred published professional papers, mostly on various aspects of environmental conservation. Phil has been a Fulbright Research Scholar in New Zealand, and is the recipient of a national distinguished teaching award. He is the editor and primary author of San Diego: An Introduction to the Region, now in its fifth revised edition. Phil is a frequent lecturer for Oasis and other organizations on a variety of topics, including renewable energy, Russia, birds, Antarctica, climate change, and others. He loves audiences that ask lots of questions.
