Suda House
Suda House is a photographer of national and international reputation living and working in San Diego, California. She is recently a retired Professor of Art and Photography from Grossmont College, having taught for over four decades.
Suda received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Southern California in 1973 and her Master of Arts from California State University, Fullerton in 1976. She was a 1980 recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts Emerging Fellowship and she has written extensively about photography, including her 1981 Amphoto imprint, “Artistic Photographic Processes.”
During the past fifty years, her photographs have been widely exhibited throughout California, the United States and Europe including a recent 2024 exhibition in Luxembourg. Locally, Suda’s newest series, The Seven Sisters of the Plieades was showcased at the Museum of Photographic Arts, Balboa Park (2023). Through a consortium of fellow photographers formed in 2014 titled the Museum Project, a select group of her Aqueous Myths have been added to over 60+ museum collections.
Suda is passionate about photography, its ability to simply describe, yet render beauty in a turbulent world, challenge us with the “truth”, while creating ambiguity and mystifying the unbelievable through illusion.
