Stephen Kelly

Stephen Kelly

Stephen grew up in Western New York and is a graduate of the University of Toronto. He has lived in Rancho Bernardo with his spouse, Susan Van Winkle, since 2001. Working in Information Technology until 2019, Stephen then returned to his life-long passion – music and singing. He studied piano, singing and jazz at Grossmont and Mesa College and has hosted local Jazz Jam Nights. Susan and he are both staff musicians at San Rafael Church in Rancho Bernardo. Susan is a Master Weaver with the San Diego Creative Weavers Guild – and a new instructor in rigid heddle weaving at Oasis!

Stephen loves to entertain seniors with his informative Great American Composer Songbook performances, both virtually and in person. He and Susan visited Ireland in 2022 and were inspired by the traditional music they heard there. Stephen has taken up the fiddle, and Susan the tin whistle, and both joyously participate in traditional Irish music sessions here in San Diego sponsored by Comhaltas. They have one daughter, Clara, who recently graduated with her Masters in Music, Vocal and Pedagogy, from Peabody Institute in Baltimore.
