
Gracie Rhoads
Gracie Rhoads has been teaching art to all ages for over 20 years in San Diego. Originally from North Carolina, she moved out to CA after receiving a BA in Studio Art and Spanish from Hollins University in Virginia. She then entered a program to attain her MA in Expressive Arts Therapy where her thesis topic was “Building Community Through Art Making: How Expressive Arts Therapy Enhances and Builds Community Among an Elderly Population within Assisted Living Facilities”. While in school, she started facilitating arts groups in local assisted living facilities. Gracie then became a full time art teacher in a K-12 school for 13 years. but continued to facilitate arts groups in retirement communities after school several times a week. Currently she teaches various art classes to different populations all over the city. Gracie teaches a variety of mediums including ceramics, polymer clay, weaving, painting, mixed media… She has an art studio at her home where she teaches small group art lessons, as well as miniature ceramics on miniature pottery wheels. Gracie loves teaching others and enjoys guiding people of all ages to experience the wonder of the arts and the powerful healing that it brings.
