Paula Matthews, MA

Paula Matthews is a long-time Oasis instructor who is always delighted to share her knowledge of Italian language and culture with her students in a dynamic class setting (and outside of class too!). In the past twenty-five years, she has created Italian language courses for various adult education programs in San Diego and has taught at Grossmont College, Southwestern College, San Diego State and USD. She currently teaches Italian at Mesa College. As a teenager Paula Matthews lived briefly in Italy, an experience that sparked her love and passion of the Italian language and culture. Through enthusiasm and creativity, backed by a sound pedagogical approach, she strives to spark that same passion in her students. Dedicated to the teaching of Italian, she is also actively involved in the promotion of language education and helps direct the annual Languages Conference at Mesa College.
